Treatment of Hypophosphatemia:
Parenteral
(use ideal body weight)
Recent
and uncomplicated hypophosphatemia:
0.08-0.16mMol
P04- /kg IV (5-10mMol phosphate).
Symptomatic
hypophosphatemia:
0.16-0.24
mMol P04-/kg IV (10-20mMol phosphate). Higher doses up to 0.5mMol
P04-/kg have been used for serum P04- <0.16mMol/L
Additional
doses should be guided by serum levels. Check serum phosphate levels
daily until stabililized. Also check serum potassium and calcium levels.
